Bas Rysavy

My voice and my Martin D-18 on stage (and a lot of stuff in my homestudio).
How did you become a musician?
At the age of 3 I got my first ukulele for my birthday. My parents are very musical too, as they sing in several church choirs. My brother Danny and I often went along and sang with them when we were young. At the age of 11/12 I got myself the leading part in my school’s musical. After that I bought my first Spanish guitar and not long after that my first electric one! Oh my….I made some noise….Danny and I started a schoolband and things developed from there. I think I started writing songs from the age of 13/14. This never stopped! My Apple in my homestudio is stuffed with demos and ideas for the 7even Bridges albums to come!!! I have also written 3 schoolmusicals for our three oldest children. Right now we are on the verge of making our dream come true, releasing our first conceptalbum #breakthesilence. Hopefully we can all live our dream in the future!
Where do you see yourself 20 years from now?
Hopefully still touring the world with my friends and best friend Erik, just like Phil Collins!
Musical inspiration:
Ok, are you all ready for this? Because there’s a lot…..In random order:
Phil Collins, The Eagles, Pink Floyd, Marillion, Genesis, Michael Jackson, Prince, Dream Theater, Toto, Alan Parsons Project, Venice, Coldplay, John Denver, Rascal Flatts, Bruce Hornsby and the Range, Michael McDonald and Steve Perry (because of their brilliant amazing voices) and I probably forgot half!
What’s in the music folder on your phone/computer/other device?
All of the above of course! And our album #breakthesilence, and of course a lot of demos we still have to finish!
What is your favorite song from each of your albums?
Can’t choose……but ok, let’s kill our darlings. “Keep believing” 'cause of the beautiful message a parent gives to his or her child. I always think of our own children when I hear it and then I could easily cry….. I also have to mention “Worst Enemy”, not only because of the way this song was written and recorded (maybe I can tell you this when we meet somewhere on tour), but mostly because it’s so emotional for Erik and myself. It tells the emotions Erik went through in his darkest hours.
Favorite song ever to play live:
Of course our first single #breakthesilence. Nothing can beat the feeling of playing your own creations live!
Best tour experience off-stage:
I love the moment when we go and eat with the whole band and crew! But the absolute best was sharing a hotel room, no, actually sharing a bed with Erik on the evening before our premiere. We had a massive laugh attack!
Best country to tour in:
Well, we don’t know yet….but the ultimate dream is to tour the UK, USA & Canada.
Best thing to get from fans on tour:
The incredible insight that we are actually changing and saving lives with our music and friendship.
Warm-up ritual before you go on stage:
I have to get in a bubble to focus and right before the start of the show we always do a group hug with all bandmembers and foolishly jump around…..
Favorite food/drink:
Chateaubriand and Lemonade
Favorite movie/series:
Saving private Ryan (the first movie my wife and I went to!) There is not much time in our lives to watch series…..
Favorite reads:
Dan Brown, and of course anything Erik Krikke publishes!
Favorite cartoon/comic:
Donald Duck.
Favorite game/sports:
Volleyball (used to play for over 25 years), Tennis (still playing), soccer (just watching, I'm a huge fan of “de Graafschap”, a club of the small town of Doetinchem, in the eastern part of the Netherlands). Love to watch several sports on TV especially during the Olympics or other great sporting events!
Your kind of heaven:
The Fellowship of Acoustics, a mindblowing musicstore with a lot of Martin guitars! And of course worldpeace….
Your worst vice:
Smoking cigars
What you’d do with a shitload of money:
Quit my job and go live my dream: making music.
Hobbies, or rather what you do on tour to pass long travel/wait times:
Playing games on my cellphone, being in clans together with my boys.
Place(s) you’d like to visit:
Scotland, Canada, USA, Norway, Australia & New Zealand.
Wise words:
Accept each other for who or what we are, and buy our music!
Last but not least: Is there something you need??!
I only need my wife and children…..(and of course my best friend Erik and my Martin to make music with).
Things to know about me:
Can't wait to meet all of you on tour! Can't wait for the whole world to hear our music!
Follow Me:
I surely would! Because a lot of good stuff is going to happen!
